My name is Mark Robinson and I live in Lisburn, Northern Ireland. Fly Tying has been a real passion of mine for the past 35 years, and I enjoy fly fishing on some of the mighty Loughs in Ireland namely Lough Corrib, Lough Melvin, Lough Mask and Lough Erne. I love tying traditional and modern Irish Lough patterns such as Dabblers, Green Peters, Octopus, May Flies, Gorgeous Georges and Bumbles. I get immense satisfaction from adding my own personal twists to these tried and tested patterns by incorporating modern day materials. I also tye modern Rainbow Trout lures, but I have to say the traditional and modern Irish lough flies are my favourites. I am mainly self taught and follow some of the giants in the fly tying world through literature and video. Nothing gives me more pleasure than to see friends and customers catching on my patterns. Speaking to some of the seasoned top Fly Tyers and anglers, and getting a personal insight into fishing methods and tying techniques in itself is truly inspirational, and can totally change your tying methods and the construction of any fly.
In 2020 I became a member of the Regal Vise International Pro Team, which was a great honour and achievement to be working with such a world wide recognised fly tying vise company. I am also a member of the Ahrex Hooks and Deer Creek Pro Teams. This will be my first year participating in the Virtual Irish Fly Fair, and I am truly honoured and excited to be contributing alongside some of the true masters in the Fly Tying World, and I wish both Stevie and Elaine Munn all the very best with the launch of the 2020 Virtual Irish Fly Fair. I look forward to sharing some of my tried and tested fly patterns and adding some of my new 2021 patterns to the web page throughout the year.
