Irish Fly Fair

Joe McDonald is a legend in fly tying in the Northwest of Ireland and further a field.

He has been tying flies for over 50 years and is responsible for flies like the Mourne Gold and many of the shrimp flies that are staples in a lot of fly boxes.

Joe has been there from the beginning of shrimp flies when only natural materials were available and creativity was key. He continued this trend right to the present day inventing many patterns as new materials have become available. The Pearly Grilse is one notable example.

Joe will be tying all the Irish favourites past and present, as well as a few of the more exotic Snaelda type flies that he has personal success with.
